Canon Canada Inc. is committed to protecting your Personal Information. This Privacy Policy details how Canon Canada Inc. (“Canon Canada”, “we”, “us” or “our”) will collect, use, share, and delete your Personal Information when you (i) purchase products or services from us, (ii) visit our website; or (iii) make inquiries or otherwise provide Personal Information, including user generated content (as defined below) to us directly or through one of our online platforms (collectively, “you” or “your”). By providing Personal Information to Canon Canada or using the Online Services (as defined below), you acknowledge and signify that you have read, understood and consent to our practices disclosed in our Privacy Policy.

1. APPLICATION
For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, “Personal Information” means information that can, by itself or when combined with other information, identify an individual, excluding business personal information. This includes personal information obtained in any form, including through Canon Canada’s websites, mobile applications and social media platforms, that are either owned by Canon Canada, or when not owned by Canon Canada those to which Canon Canada has been granted access with the permissions you granted to such third-party websites, platforms or applications (such websites, platforms and applications referred to as the “Online Services”). As well as, user generated content (“UGC”), which means content in blogs, reviews, wikis, discussion forums, posts, chats, tweets, comments, posts, messages, podcasting, pins, digital images, video, audio files, and other forms of media that were created by users as part of the Online Services and on social media channels which are publicly available.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to Canon Canada’s current employees and Canon ID Account holders.
2. CANON ID
For those individuals who have registered and have obtained a Canon ID, your Personal Information will be governed by the Canon ID Privacy Policy, and not by Canon Canada’s Privacy Policy, to the extent your transactions and actions are related to your Canon ID account. To understand how your personal information is being collected, used and disclosed, please log into to your Canon ID account and review the Canon ID privacy policy.
3. AGE OF MAJORITY
Canon Canada’s Services are not intended for or directed to individuals who are under the age of 14, and we do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from anyone under the age of 14. If you provide Personal Information on anyone under the age of 14, you must be the person’s parent or legal guardian and have the right to provide the Personal Information under all applicable laws. You are fully responsible for ensuring that the Personal Information of persons under the age of 14 that you provide can be collected, used, stored and disclosed by Canon Canada as described in this Privacy Policy.
4. TYPES OF INFORMATION COLLECTED AND THE PURPOSES
The type of information that you may provide Canon Canada or that Canon Canada may collect is tied to the purposes for which the information is collected. Often, it is tied to the products or services you request, or to the nature of the interaction between you and Canon Canada. Examples of this are set out below.

4.1 Online Services User Information
User information is collected on an aggregate basis, which means that no Personal Information is associated with this data.
5. SHARING OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Canon Canada will only provide Personal Information to third parties in a manner consistent with the terms of this Privacy Policy or as allowed under applicable privacy laws. Canon
Canada retains service providers and suppliers (“Service Providers”) to manage or support its business operations, provide professional services, deliver products, services and customer solutions and to assist with marketing and communication initiatives. These providers include, for example, hosting and IT service providers, website management and support service providers, email service providers, automated data processors, credit card processors, debt collectors, shipping agents, and providers of marketing, communications, order fulfillment, delivery, customer support, live-help, talent acquisition, and security services. We may disclose your information to these companies to enable them to provide you with services on our behalf.
As well, we are part of the Canon Group and may disclose your information to our corporate affiliates (“Corporate Affiliates”) which may be located outside of the country you reside and are located in, including, but not limited to, our parent company Canon Inc., located in Japan and Canon U.S.A.
We may also disclose your information in the connection with the sale of applicable Canon Canada business (“Business Transfer”), where a portion of the business, or certain stock and/or assets, or a corporate merger, consolidation, restructuring, or other corporate change including but not limited to, during the course of any due diligence process.
We may disclose your personal information to marketing partners (“Marketing Partners”) for the purpose of conducting general business analysis, such as website usage and marketing information. Canon Canada may create user group profiles or segment data and to otherwise create anonymous, aggregated statistics about the use of our websites, products and services. We may share this anonymous, aggregate information with third parties.
Additionally, we may use and disclose your information when such use or disclosure is required or permitted under applicable laws, including laws outside your country of residence, such as (i) to comply with legal process; (ii) to respond to requests from public and government authorities, including public and government authorities outside your country of residence; (iii) to enforce the terms of the agreements for our products and services; (iv) to protect our rights, operations or property; (v) to protect the rights and safety of others against risk;(v) to allow us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain; and (vi) and otherwise required or permitted by applicable laws.
6. LINKED SITES
As a convenience to our visitors, the Online Services may contain links to a number of sites that we believe may offer useful information. When you click on one of these links, you will be transferred from the Online Services and be connected to the site of the organization or company that you selected. This Privacy Policy is no longer applicable when you are on a website that is not Canon Canada’s, even if you get to that new website by way of link from Canon Canada’s Online Services. Each of these linked sites maintains their own independent privacy policies and procedures, which you should consult before providing any of your Personal Information.
7. SECURITY AND RETENTION
Canon Canada works hard to ensure that our systems are secure and that they meet industry standards. to prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information. Although we use reasonable and appropriate physical, technical and organizational security measures to protect your information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration and disclosure, no method of transmitting or storing electronic data on the Internet is ever completely secure, and we do not guarantee the security of such information at any time.
We may retain information about you as long as it is necessary for us to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. In addition, we may retain your information for an additional period as is permitted or required to, among other things, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Where and when required by applicable law, we shall delete your information. Even if we delete your information from active databases, the information may remain on backup.
8. STORAGE OUTSIDE CANADA
Your Personal Information may be used or stored by us or our Service Providers, marketing partners, and our corporate affiliates outside the Province of Quebec and/ or outside of Canada. When not stored in Canada, this information is typically stored in the United States or Japan. Canon Canada takes reasonable contractual or other measures to protect customer’s Personal Information while processed or handled by these Service Providers, marketing partners and our corporate affiliates outside of Canada. If a customer’s Personal Information is located outside of Canada it may be subject to legal requirements in those foreign countries applicable to Canon Canada’s Service Providers and corporate affiliates.
9. UNSUBSCRIBE
If you no longer wish to receive electronic messages containing promotions, new product and service offering and information about how to make the most of the our products and services, you can unsubscribe from any electronic message by clicking on the unsubscribe button provided in the electronic message, or by logging into the eStore account and unsubscribing. Please note that you may continue to receive certain transactional or account-related email messages.
10. YOUR RIGHTS
If you would like to access your Personal Information, or exercise your privacy rights (defined below), please fill out this form. Your rights may be limited, as permitted or required by applicable law.
Right to withdraw your consent: You may have the right to withdraw your consent to our continued collection, use or disclosure of your personal information, subject to any permitted restrictions and notice requirements.
Right to request access to your personal information: You may have the right to access your information; be informed of whether or not we hold personal information about you; be informed of the existence, use and disclosure of your personal information, and obtain a copy of your computerized personal information collected from you in a structured and commonly used technological format.
Right to request rectification: You may have the right to request the rectification or amending of your personal information if inaccurate or incomplete.
Right to not have decision based exclusively on automated processing: You may have the right to request information about the use of any automated decision system used and the impact it may have on you.
Right to data portability: You may request that the personal information you provided us about you be communicated to you or transferred to another organization in a structured, commonly used technological format.
Canon Canada will make all reasonable efforts to respond within thirty (30) days of your request (the “Notice Period”). Canon Canada may extend the Notice Period when:
To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections. Canon Canada will use reasonable efforts to supply you with this information and to correct any factual inaccuracies that you identify. Under certain conditions as permitted or required by law, Canon Canada will not provide individuals with access to the Personal Information kept on file by Canon Canada. Where Canon Canada refuses a request, Canon Canada will identify: (i) the reasons for refusing the request; and (ii) the recourse for the customer under applicable legislation.
Canon Canada will respond to requests for access to Personal Information at no cost for access or minimal cost for access. Where there is a cost for access to Personal Information, Canon Canada will provide the individual with an estimate of the approximate cost. Upon receipt of the estimate, the individual must advise Canon Canada if he or she wishes to continue with the request. The request will be put on hold until such time as Canon Canada receives confirmation to proceed with the request based on approval of the fees involved.

11. CHANGES TO POLICY
To accommodate changes in our services, personal information practices, changes in technology, and legal developments, this Privacy Policy may change over time. We may add, change, or remove portions of the Privacy Policy when we feel it is appropriate to do so. Whenever we update the Privacy Policy, we will change the date to indicate when the changes were made. Each time you submit personal information or use our services you agree to be bound by the then current terms of the Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review our Privacy Policy periodically.
