Océ VariaDot Imaging technology delivers finer details and smoother gradients in highlight areas, crisp colours in the mid tones, and incredible density in shadows and areas of solid colour. Images look far superior to those printed on a conventional, fixed-droplet, six-colour inkjet printer.

ADVANTAGES

• The ability to vary the drop size to as little as six picolitres produces sharp images with smoother gradients and quarter-tones.
• The ability to jet larger droplets up to 42 picolitres produces dense, uniform solids. The result is near-photographic image quality with sharpness only before seen at resolutions of 1,440 dpi or higher.
• A varying amount of ink placed at every location achieves finer coverage for smooth skin tones without excessive ink consumption.
• The four-colour inks technology uses up to 50% less ink compared with six-colour printers with fixed-droplet inkjet technology.
• Higher resolution quality means even six-point type is perfectly legible—even white type on a dark background.

HOW THE TECHNOLOGY WORKS
Océ VariaDot imaging technology allows piezoelectric printheads to produce droplets of varying volume on demand. This allows the connected workflow software to specify an appropriate droplet size for each specific image feature.
