Students from Sheridan College’s Honours Bachelor of Photography Program proudly displayed their work at the school’s annual Grad Show in Toronto on April 30. The night was not only a chance for the 48 graduating students to showcase their work from their senior year but also an opportunity to introduce themselves to their new peers. Industry experts in attendance included photo editors, art buyers, curators, documentary shooters, art directors and fellow photographers.
“It’s a celebration of students becoming part of a professional community,” says Donna Braggins, associate dean, Faculty of Animation, Arts & Design. “We take a great deal of pride in offering a four-year degree with a strong professional orientation, and this is the most significant night where students cross that boundary and start to realize their future.”
Judges handed out 12 awards. Members of the Canon Canada team presented the Canon Awards to two deserving graduates. In addition to these awards, Canon Canada presents $2,000 scholarships to the top students in Years 1, 2 and 3 of Sheridan College’s Honours Bachelor of Photography Program.
“Canon has been an essential partner,” says Braggins. “When we talk about a standard of professional practice, it goes hand in hand with the quality Canon brings to our processes.”
