Each year, Ryerson’s Faculty of Communication and Design recognizes School of Graphic Communications Management (GCM) students at the GCM Awards night. Traditionally, the event is a great opportunity to welcome students, their families and friends, industry professionals and faculty members to celebrate student achievements from the previous academic year.
This year, with gathering restrictions in place, the event took place online in the form of a video with opening remarks from Jason Lisi, Chair, GCM, and a special message from Charles Falzon, Dean, Faculty of Communication and Design.
Afrah Idrees was this year’s recipient of the Canon PRISMAsync Colour Management Scholarship, awarded to the student who attained the highest grade in Colour Management for Graphic Communications. Mary-Anne Buerano won the Canon Scholarship in Graphic Communications Project Management, awarded to the student who attained the highest grade in Project Management for Graphic Communications. Each student received $1,000.
“While we wish we could have presented the Canon scholarships to this year’s recipients in-person, we are pleased to be able to support Ryerson’s School of Graphic Communications Management students in their academic journey,” said Steve Yanofsky, Director of Corporate Communications & Brand Marketing at Canon Canada. “I’d like to congratulate both Afrah and Mary-Anne on winning the Canon awards this year, and I wish them continued success.”
