The annual Japan Festival CANADA took place in Mississauga, Ont., on Aug. 17 and 18. The event celebrates Japanese performance, food and drink, technology, and contemporary and traditional culture and fashion. As a Japanese company with 11 office locations across the country – including Mississauga – Canon Canada was once again proud to support an event that celebrates the history between Canada and Japan.

For the third straight year, Canon Canada used its booth to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. Canon Canada has been named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for the past six years. Since 2017, it has partnered with Earth Rangers, a kids’ environment and conservation organization, to help get Canadian families more actively involved in protecting wildlife habitat in their own backyards. Once again, a quartet of Earth Rangers Animal Ambassadors – Delta, a savannah monitor; Nacho, a curl-crested aracari; Benjamin, a yellow-footed tortoise; and Sonic, a barn owl – stole the show at the Canon Canada booth. They educated visitors on the importance of protecting biodiversity and animals’ habitats. Visitors could spin the Canon wheel for a chance to win an eco-friendly prize as well.

Canon Canada also showcased the winners of the Nature Through Your Lens photo contest. Earlier this summer, Canon Canada invited the public to submit their best nature-themed photo. Ten talented winners not only had their work displayed at the Canon Photo Gallery but also received a framed print – custom done by Canon Frame Lab – to serve as the flagship of their own gallery at home.
