The holidays are a wonderful time to give back to people in our communities. Guided by its Kyosei philosophy of social responsibility, Canon Canada is committed to making a difference in the communities where we live and work. As 2022 came to a close, the company wanted to spread a little holiday cheer.
On behalf of all employees, Canon Canada made a financial donation to Food Banks Canada, a national charitable organization dedicated to helping Canadians living with food insecurity. They support a network of provincial associations, affiliate food banks and food agencies that work at the community level to relieve hunger. Additionally, Canon Canada encouraged employees to donate to their local food banks, with the company financially matching those contributions with a second donation to Food Banks Canada.
Based in Brampton, Ont., Canon Canada donated toys to a local firehall, which distributed the toys to children who may not have otherwise had a gift to unwrap during the holidays.
As has been part of the holiday season tradition at our Saint-Laurent and Montreal offices for the last six years, the staff fulfilled the wish lists of 60 children with their gift donations to the Batshaw Youth and Family Centres. The gifts were distributed to children and youth who are under youth protection services and living either with a foster family or at a care centre who would normally not receive any gift. The special donation of a camera from Canon Canada was much appreciated by Batshaw, who had received a request from one young person hoping to start their education and career in photography.
The company also made a pair of financial donations to support healthcare professionals. The William Osler Health System Foundation supports Peel Memorial Centre, Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital, and works to ensure that these facilities have the necessary funds to provide excellent patient care. The second donation went to the Canadian Cancer Society to help it continue its great work championing world-leading outcomes in cancer prevention, treatment and support.
