Each year, Canon Canada demonstrates its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability by participating in programs that support the Canon Americas Environmental Charter and corporate philosophy of Kyosei – all people, regardless of race, religion or culture, harmoniously living and working together into the future.

In 2014, Canon Canada introduced Branch Out, an annual volunteer initiative to encourage all employees to take part in environmental sustainability and community conservation programs. Facing unprecedented challenges in 2020, Canon Canada was unable to execute the national Branch Out program for what would have been a seventh consecutive year. To fulfill its organizational commitment to environmental programs, Canon Canada provided financial support to the following partners who continue to do great work in the communities they serve.

Credit Valley Conservation is a local conservation authority that focuses their efforts toward the environment in the Peel Region in Ontario, the location of Canon’s Canadian headquarters. Canon Canada's donation will help the organization's efforts in raising funds for its Credit Valley Trail project, a 100-kilometre pathway through the Credit River Valley that aims to connect people to nature, cultural experiences and Indigenous heritage along the waters of the Credit River.

Trout Unlimited Canada is a national not-for-profit organization whose mission is to conserve, protect and restore Canada’s freshwater ecosystems and cold water resources for current and future generations. Canon’s donation will go toward the organization’s “Reconnecting Canada” initiative, which focuses on reconnecting streams severed by roads and trails to enable fish movement, improve water quality, and restore the natural form and function of waterways in Canada.

“Credit Valley Conservation and Trout Unlimited Canada have been partners of Canon Canada for the last five years,” says Nobu Kitajima, President and CEO of Canon Canada. “Though we were not able to have them organize in-person volunteer programs for us in 2020, we are pleased to continue supporting their important environmental initiatives.”
