This June, Canon Canada was pleased to sponsor the inaugural Brampton Half Marathon race, consisting of a half marathon and a 10K event. With this year's event taking place virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions, race participants could choose their own course: either running or walking on a treadmill or around a neighborhood; or attempting the actual half marathon or 10K course. Participants could upload their completion times between June 12 and July 12.

As the proud title sponsor of the Virtual Canon 10K event, the company was pleased to offer employees across Canada the opportunity to participate in the event. In order to support them in their journey toward completing a 10K, Canon partnered with local Brampton gym Heart and Hustle Fitness to create an eight-week “couch to 10K” training program. Employees were able to train with little to no prior experience to improve their health and wellness in preparation for the race.

The inaugural race attracted incredible turnout and engagement. More than 500 individuals took part in the events, including almost 60 employees from Canon Canada participating in the Canon 10K, with two finishing among the top five fastest times!

The 2021 Brampton Half Marathon raised funds for the following local charities:

“Canon Canada has been a proud member of the Brampton community since our headquarters opened four years ago. That’s why we were delighted to sponsor the Canon 10K at the 2021 Brampton Half Marathon,” said Nobu Kitajima, President & CEO, Canon Canada. “At Canon, we are driven by our philosophy of Kyosei: all people, regardless of race, religion or culture, harmoniously living and working together into the future – and the Brampton Half Marathon is a perfect example of living this philosophy.”
