Canon Canada’s General and Environmental Affairs team recently held recycling events at our Brampton, Mississauga and Calgary offices. For employees, it was an opportunity to responsibly recycle their no-longer-needed electronics and textiles while doing a little fall cleanup at home.
More than 110 employees across the three offices donated their unwanted items. All told, they diverted over 1,100 kg of consumer electronics and textiles from landfills. Valuable materials – such as gold, copper and aluminum – will be extracted from the electronics and sold globally as a commodity. Good quality clothing will be donated to local charities and homeless shelters; other textiles will be repurposed for cat toys, pillow stuffing and rags.
